About us

Kamui International Snowsports School is the official English speaking snowsports provider at Kamui Ski Links, just outside Asahikawa in the heart of Hokkaido. We were established to bring professional international coaching to one of Japan’s most relaxed and rewarding ski destinations. At our foundation is former SAJ National Demonstrator Takao Maruyama, one of Japan’s most respected ski educators. His vision combines the warmth of Japanese hospitality with the best international teaching methods, and that vision remains central to everything we do.

We are proud to be the exclusive official international snowsports school of Kamui Ski Links. Our school operates in partnership with Rookie Academy, the world’s most recognisable ski training brand. Founded by Dean Hunter, Rookie Academy has delivered instructor training and all mountain skier development programs across New Zealand, Japan, China, the USA, Canada, and Italy for over 35 years. Dean provides strategic leadership and ensures every program meets the highest standards in global snowsports education.

Our training philosophy is led by Harry McFadden, Rookie Academy’s Head Trainer. Harry is a NZSIA Examiner, two time Interski Team member for New Zealand, and a Licensed Professional Trainer with the Professional Ski Instructors of Europe (PSIE). With teaching experience across New Zealand, Japan, China, the USA, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy, Harry brings a performance driven, modern approach to both instructor development and guest coaching.

Day to day lessons are delivered by our select team of international instructors who share our core values: professionalism, progression, and a deep love for the mountain. We offer private lessons and small group guiding for both adults and children, always tailored to your level, learning style, and goals. Whether you are taking your very first turns, refining your carving, chasing powder, or even training toward instructor certification, our team is here to help you succeed.

Kamui Ski Links itself is a hidden gem of Hokkaido, famous for its incredibly dry powder, uncrowded slopes, and laid back local atmosphere. Located just 30 minutes from downtown Asahikawa, it is the perfect blend of easy access and true Japanese mountain culture.

For guests seeking the ultimate Kamui experience, we offer our Exclusive Private Experience: a full day private lesson that includes complimentary transport from central Asahikawa. Your instructor will pick you up in the morning, drive you directly to the resort, and return you at the end of the day, making the logistics effortless so you can focus entirely on skiing or snowboarding. This service is limited to Exclusive Private Experience bookings and subject to availability, so early reservations are strongly recommended.

Whether your goal is to explore hidden tree runs, build confidence on groomed terrain, or simply enjoy a seamless day in the mountains, Kamui International Snowsports School delivers an unforgettable experience at the only international snowsports school officially affiliated with Kamui Ski Links.
